The women nodded, which was my cue to continue.

“What if I had a chance for you two to get them back?”

“How?” they asked at the same time, and I smiled.

“I think I can help with that,” Percy said, walking into the room.

He had his own reasons why he hated his family, and I didn’t care as long as I could get what I needed in the end.

For years, I had known that Percy wasn’t the biggest fan of Jackson or the boys, even his own son, Legion, but I never dealt with him because I thought we would get caught. But now that they knew where my loyalty really laid, I didn’t care.

He was always my plan B if everything else failed. Not even Kevin answered my calls the night Bully was supposed to kill the boys, so I knew Percy was my only choice since the boys managed to get Kevin on their side.

“Trinity, you will get a chance to get Wrath back for your baby father’s life. And I’m sure you want Legion back, Gena?” Percy asked as he took a seat.

“I’m in no matter what! They took everything away from me,” Trinity barked emotionally, and Percy nodded.

  “Good. And you, Gena?”

She looked more unconvinced than Trinity did.

“I don’t know. I won’t lie and say I don’t want Legion back because I do, but I just don’t think crossing him will do that. I already know what he’s got with that girl won’t last, so I will just wait it out.”

I looked at Percy, expecting him to be as disappointed with her answer as I was, but I was surprised to see him smirking.

“Well, I don’t call them about to have a baby as something that won’t last.” Percy simpered, and Gena gasped.

I almost laughed because she really did look devastated.

Although I could sympathize with her because once upon a time I was just as gone over Jackson, it had me wondering what it was about those Ramsey men that had women going crazy.

You know exactly what it is! I thought and shook my head at Gena’s face—a face that I had carried too many times to count over a Ramsey man.

The room was silent as the three of us watched Gena’s face go through a series of emotions while her eyes watered, and her lip trembled.

“No, you have to be mistaken. He said that he never wanted kids!” She finally spoke out, and Percy laughed.

“Darling, my name is Percy Ramsey. I am Legion’s father. I can guarantee that what I said is the truth.”

Gena’s eyes widened, and then she shot up to her feet.

“I got to go.” She whimpered before snatching up her purse and walking out of the room.

“Percy! What if she says something?” I panicked when I saw that he didn’t even try to stop her from leaving.

Although we hadn’t discussed any plans, Gena knew that we were after the Ramsey men, so what was stopping her from telling Legion?

I wasn’t worried about Trinity because I had worked with her before. I was the one who told her about Popeye and led Kevin to her. She had no loyalty to those niggas, so I knew she wouldn’t say anything, but I didn’t know Gena. All I knew was that she used to fuck Legion, and he stopped after getting with his girlfriend.

I was hoping to use that to make Gena join us, but I didn’t know that girl.

Percy looked at me and smiled. “Don’t worry about her, she won’t say anything. She’s just going to get confirmation for herself, and once she does, she will join us.”

He sounded so confident, but I wasn’t. I had gotten comfortable once before and look where that led me.

Percy then looked to Trinity, and so did I.

“What do I need to do because not even the cops will help me. One detective was all into it, and then he suddenly changed his story. Made it look like I was crazy, and that Popeye left me for another woman, but I knew my nigga! He loved his kids and me. He would never leave,” Trinity expressed.

He loved you but fucked everything with a pussy. I thought about telling her about the nigga she thought she knew, but I needed her on my side.

Being around the boys as long as I had been, I had met a few of their friends including Popeye and Sly. And that boy stayed fucking different women on different nights of the week.

It was only because I was following the boys for some time that I found out Popeye even had a baby mother because that was news to me. The way he was acting, no one would ever have known he had a woman or kids.

“Don’t worry about the cops. We are going to take a different approach,” I said, slightly annoyed that my assumption was right—they got to Kevin somehow, and he backed out.

If nothing else, I had more confidence that Kevin would be the one to take them down for me because he hated them almost as much as I did. But then it dawned on me that he probably stopped for his damn daughter.

I knew I should have killed that bitch!

There was a point after finding out that Surge was fucking Kevin’s daughter that I was going to kill her and make it look like Surge did it, just to further drive Kevin’s hate for the boys. Now knowing that she was the one who put a stop to what he was doing, it had me wishing that I did it.

“I’m listening,” Trinity said, bringing me out of my regrets, and I smiled at her.

  “Good.”

Percy and I gave each other a look, and he nodded for me to let her in to our plan.

Once I finished relaying it all to her, Trinity was ready to walk out of the hotel room and get shit moving. It took a lot to convince her not to act just yet. Not until we had other things in place first.

Needless to say, Trinity left the room happy as hell, which was good for me.

After she walked out, I turned to face Percy.

“Do you think she can do it?” I asked him, and he looked over at me.

“Yeah, did you not see the fire in her eyes? She wants Wrath dead more than we do.” He chuckled, and I nodded to agree.

Like I said, he had his own reasons why he wanted his family dead, and that was his story to tell.

Percy walked over to the mini bar in the room as I sat back on the bed and watched him. He was a very handsome man, but unfortunately, not like his younger brother, Jackson, so back when I met Jackson, all the women overlooked Percy—including me.

Percy was tall at six foot, which was slightly shorter than Jackson, who was three inches taller. He had the same chocolate complexion as all the Ramsey men except Legion, of course, but that was where their similarities stopped.

Percy looked like their mother while Jackson had their father’s looks, and they daddy was sexy as hell. He died years before I ever met Jackson, but I had seen pictures, and baby, if big daddy were alive, I would have tried that nigga. He looked like Wrath but just bald, and sorry to say, my husband’s eldest bastard was fine. If he was young and stupid like Guns, I would have enjoyed turning and fucking that nigga!

Percy had beady, dark eyes that were slightly embedded in his head. His nose was straight and long, almost like a white man, and his lips were thin, not thick like Jackson’s. He had an athletic build and not muscular like Jackson. In fact, if I had never heard it from their mouths, I never would have known they were brothers.

Jackson just had something about him that Percy didn’t, and that’s why I ended up with Jackson that night I met him because they were at the club together. Even though Jackson was four years younger than Percy, people often thought it was the other way around from how Jackson carried himself. His aura screamed boss, and Percy’s didn’t.

I watched as he opened a bottle of water and brought it to his lips. He gulped almost half of the water before moving it from his lips and then licking them. His head turned, and his eyes landed on mine.

“You shouldn’t look at me like that, Faye.” He simpered, and I rolled my eyes at him.

Closing the bottle, Percy walked over to the bed and stopped at the bottom. His eyes roamed my body, which was still thick, even though I was headed toward fifty. I knew that I still looked like I was in my thirties.

With his eyes still roaming over my frame, he licked his lips and picked up one of my feet.

“You should have ended up with me, Faye. You know that, right?” he said lowly, and I laughed.

I laughed because back then, Percy didn’t have enough money or swag for me, and he still didn’t. But like I said, he wasn’t an ugly man.

My eyes traveled down his body and landed on his dick print. I wonder if he’s walking with a monster like Jackson and Guns have? I thought as I allowed my eyes to focus on his dick, hoping to find the answer.

Hearing Percy snort a laugh pulled my eyes to his.

My body started to shiver when he ran a hand up my inner leg until he reached my thigh. I bit my bottom lip and closed my eyes as I waited to feel his hand brush against my pussy.

“Had you not fucked my brother and my nephew, I might have fucked you.”

His words caused my eyes to pop open, and he was standing there with a smirk on his face. Before I could say anything, he pulled his hand from my thigh and walked away with a chuckle.

I rolled over onto my stomach and huffed.

I fucking hate those Ramsey men!

  Kanada Alton

“This apartment has three bedrooms,” the realtor said behind me as I looked around the apartment with a smile on my face.

“It’s beautiful!” I exclaimed as my eyes roamed all around.

“And it’s right in your price range,” she added.

I nodded and continued to walk around. By the time I walked out of the last room, I knew that I wanted it.

  “I will take it!”

“Great. Let me just make some calls,” Renee said, and I nodded.

I turned to look down at TJ, and with a huge smile on my face, I scooped him into my arms.

“Do you like it, little man?” I asked, and he nodded while mumbling hmm mmm. “Would you like to live here? We can make one of the rooms a playroom for you,” I bribed, and that was all it took before he was nodding yes so hard that I thought his head was going to snap off.

While I held my son in my arms, I took another look around at our new apartment and new beginning.

It was time that I moved on.

Things were as bad as they were going to get with Alvaro, and so much had happened between and around us that I knew there was no going back. But, surprisingly, I was good with that.

I did what I did to protect myself and my son. Maybe it wasn’t the best thing to do, but it was done, and I couldn’t take it back. And if Alvaro didn’t want to understand or talk to me about it, I was over trying to make him. I had spent too much time dedicating my life to men, and I was over that. First, Terrence, and then Alvaro. But now it was about Kanada and TJ.

It took me a minute because it wasn’t easy letting Alvaro go—I really did love him and still did—but I was tired of the tears and feeling low. It was something I never wanted to feel again, and the first step was moving out of Alvaro’s house.

Now, all I had to do was tell Ma.

After taking in our new apartment and imagining how I was going to decorate it, I put TJ down on his feet and crouched to his level.

“TJ, I need you to promise me that you won’t tell daddy or anyone about this apartment,” I said, and his little face contorted in confusion.

“Why, Mommy? I wanted to show Daddy and KeKe my new room.”

I sighed. “I know, baby, but it’s a surprise. Okay?”

I hated lying to my son, but I didn’t want Alvaro to know I was moving out. That night TJ mentioned the new houses we had been looking at, I saw the look in his eyes, and he wasn’t happy. I didn’t understand why—he didn’t even talk to me! But I knew once he found out I actually got a new apartment, it was going to end up in a discussion that I just didn’t want to have.

It was more for me than him.

Once I left, only then would I tell him.

TJ looked at me still confused until a smile covered his lips.

“It’s a surprise?” he asked, and I nodded.

“Yeah. You know like when Mommy bought you those toys for Christmas. I didn’t tell you, did I?”

He shook his head no, and I smiled.

“Exactly. I want to surprise Daddy, so you can’t tell him, Ma, or KeKe okay? Promise Mommy you won’t say anything.”

  “I promise!”

We hugged, and then I stood to my feet when I heard Renee walk back into the room.

“A relationship breakdown?” she asked in a kind tone, and I nodded.

“I understand, and good for you. Nigg—men ain’t S,” she said, correcting and stopping herself from saying shit in front of TJ.

“They come into your life, and you think you’ve finally found your one until you find out that he’s sleeping with you and his baby mother! They have you out here looking like a fool believing it’s just you and him!” she suddenly snapped, staring into space, and then she looked at me.

“I’m sorry.” She cleared her throat and fixed her blazer. “So, you like it?” Renee asked about the apartment, and I chuckled while nodding.

  “Okay, let’s talk.”

“Where do I sign?” I asked with a smile, and she smiled back at me.

  Time for a new beginning!

By the time I got back to Alvaro’s house a few hours later, I still had a smile on my face, knowing I finally had my own apartment. I couldn’t wait to get inside to pack up our stuff.

TJ took off running as soon as I opened the door, and smelling Ma’s cooking, I followed the sweet aroma to the kitchen. I was shocked to see Alvaro sitting at the island with his laptop because he had been hiding away in his room since the night I forced him to talk to me.

He looked up at me, and I turned my head without even saying anything to him.

“Hi, Ma, it smells good in here,” I spoke out, and she turned to look at me from the stove.

  “Hey, baby, thank you.”

I walked over and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

  “Hello, Kanada.”

I almost gasped when Alvaro called out to me.

I thought about ignoring him like he had been doing to me, but when I turned to look at him, I saw TJ sitting beside him looking at me. He was a child, and I didn’t want him to see us fighting in front of him.

“Hi,” I simply said back as he sat there staring at me.

“So, where y’all been today? Y’all were gone for hours,” Ma asked.

I thanked God for her question because it allowed me to turn my attention away from Alvaro, but her question had me wishing she asked something else because there was no way to answer that without lying.

“We didn’t look at my new room,” TJ said, and my mouth dropped.

He looked over at me with his innocent little face and gave me a thumbs up.

I guess that was his way of not telling!

Ma turned to look at him with confusion on her face.

“We went to IKEA in Brooklyn, and he thought one of the setups was his new room.” I chuckled, pulling that lie from my ass, and Ma laughed.

“KeKe does the same thing when I take her.”

Ma turned back to the stove, obviously accepting my lie, and I almost sighed with relief until I locked eyes with Alvaro, who was sitting there staring at me.

From his eyes, I could tell he knew that I was lying.

“Um, I’m going to give TJ a bath before dinner,” I said, using that as my excuse to leave the room.

Alvaro kept his eyes on me as I walked over to where he was to get TJ. When I reached out to pick TJ up, Alvaro grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the room.

“Alvaro!” I tried to pull away from him, but he wasn’t letting me go.

He continued to pull me and didn’t let me go until we were in the den.

“You moving out, Kanada?” he asked, and I just stood there looking at him without answering.

  “Kanada?”

“Does it matter, Alvaro? It’s not like you say anything to me.”

  His face twisted,
and he nodded while looking away from my eyes for a few seconds. When he looked back at me, he sighed.

“Can we talk now?” he asked, and I laughed.

“Now? Now you want to talk?”

  This nigga here!

He looked at me and rubbed a hand down his face.

  “Kanada—”

“Look, Alvaro, I could never thank you enough for helping us, and I could never pay you back. But it’s time for me to move on. I will be gone in a few days.”

“You not going to let me talk?”

“No, because there is nothing to say.”

“Okay, well just listen then,” he said, and I shook my head.

Again, his face twisted, and then he smirked.

  “Okay.”

He just stood there looking at me until I turned my back to him and walked out.

I was done talking. There was nothing left to say!

  Pharaoh ‘Legion’ Ramsey

Looking down at my ringing phone, I sighed when I saw that it was my sister Clare. We hadn’t spoken since the night I brought A’Moya to meet her, and she acted stupid in front of her friend. I thought about ignoring it, but I wanted to know why she was calling, so I answered.

“Yes, Clare,” I answered, and she sighed.

“Pharaoh, I apologized a thousand times,” she said.

“And? You acting like that nigga, and I can’t fuck with you.”

Mentioning that motherfucker reminded me that I needed to kill his ass. I hadn’t seen or heard from him since the day I bumped into him at the mall with Moya, but I knew my dad—he was somewhere plotting. But this time, he wasn’t fucking with a twelve-year-old Pharaoh.

For now, I had A’Moya staying at a safe house with me. I just told her that some things popped off, and I needed her safe with me. I didn’t want her to know it was my pops because I didn’t want her to know I was going to kill him.

It wasn’t because I didn’t trust her enough to tell her, it was because I knew she wouldn’t want me to do it, but there was just no way that nigga could live after threatening her and my seed.
